Hal is an outgoing and highly motivated kidney transplant patient from Liverpool, now living and working in London. In 2000, he developed a kidney condition, which progressively worsened and led to him requiring dialysis treatment in June 2003.

Despite these setbacks, Hal was determined to continue with a normal life and graduated with 1st class honours from the University of Liverpool, gaining a BSc in Electronic Commerce Computing. After graduation, he moved to London and began working as a technology assurance consultant.

In November 2006, Hal received the “gift of life” when his brother Ross donated him a kidney.

Since becoming a kidney patient, Hal has worked hard to improve conditions for fellow patients, both nationally through fundraising activities for organisations such as Kidney Research UK and locally as a member of his regional kidney patient’s association. He has also been responsible for helping run a number of websites and Internet forums and is a committee member of the National Kidney Federation Young Persons Group.

Having spent 3 years on the waiting list for a transplant, Hal is well aware of the need to increase the numbers of organ donors and ensure that patients no longer die waiting for a transplant that doesn’t materialise in time.

Emboldened by his renewed health and close friendships formed with inspirational members of the Cystic Fibrosis community, he has resolved to work as part of Live Life Then Give Life to raise awareness of the need for people to sign up to the Organ Donor Registry and to increase the number of organ donors through the provision of training and education. Having run several businesses in the past, Hal aims to apply his entrepreneurial spirit to help organise innovative awareness and fundraising events to enable Live Life Then Give Life to make a huge impact in these areas.
